Felicity Aston
The nicest thing with editorial and magazine assignments is that you get to meet some amazing people … such as Felicity Aston. The first woman in the world to ski across Antarctica alone.
Felicity was in London to talk about her recent expedition and she was also giving interviews. It was not particularly easy to illustrate her and her fantastic achievements in just 15 minutes in central London … seeing The Union Flag on her arm I thought I would give the images a ‘British’ feel. As we met up opposite the Houses of Parliament I used the building as a backdrop. Her press agent looked alarmed as we stood in the middle of the road with the busy traffic … not wanting to be blamed for having this great adventurer knocked over by a London bus I took the images very quickly.
On the way home I thought about all the many great explorers that Britain has produced over the centuries and how they have all displayed the Union Flag with pride. It was fantastic to have just met one.
The above tear sheet of the interview shows Felicty’s own images that were used. Vist Felicity Aston’s website.
