BBC Broadcasting House London
It was really interesting to have visited the new BBC Broadcasting House at Portland Place in the heart of London. Eventually, 6,000 people – more than a quarter of all BBC staff will be based in Broadcasting House, one of the world’s largest broadcast complexes.
The BBC now gathers its news journalism under one roof and produces news in 27 languages reaching an audience of 239 million people around the world each week. The impressive new open plan newsroom called ‘the world’s newsroom’ occupies the basement and ground floors and is staffed 24/7.
Stephen Sackur HARDtalk
The new Broadcasting House also houses state of the art high definition green screen virtual studios where programmes such as HARDtalk are recorded. It was nice to have met presenter Stephen Sackur, I photographed him in one of the many small meeting rooms that are spread around the building, these rooms are adorned with images of past television personalities and journalists – this backdrop showed the legendary journalist Alistair Cooke (1908-2004).
