I knew that over the last few years English wines have been winning many prestigious awards, and I have also tasted many excellent English wines but I had never visited an English vineyard so it was with great pleasure I received an assignment from Swedish Dagens Nyheter to do just that. With reporter Pia Gripenberg we visited the Three Choirs Vineyard in Newent, Gloucestershire.

With around 500 vineyards the English & Welsh wine industry saw record sales of 6.3m bottles last year and predicts another bumper year in 2015.
English & Welsh Wine – not to be confused with British Wine
Only wine made from fresh grapes grown in England or Wales and produced in a UK winery is genuine English & Welsh Wine – British wine is made from fermented grape juice or concentrate that can originate from anywhere in the world and is bottled in Britain.
