Corporate Portraits Office Background
We were delighted to have been recently commissioned to take the 11 staff portraits & group images at the luxury Italian furniture company Minotti. They have been established for over 60 years and have had a London showroom at 77 Margaret Street, Fitzrovia since 2009.
This was a very interesting assignment … yet technically quite difficult. The brief was to take both standing and sitting portraits in and around the showroom – the difficulty was that the showroom had subdued lighting and most of the fittings & furniture on display were either grey or black + most of the staff had dark clothing.
For those that are interested in lighting setups I used an Elinchrom Quadra + soft-box for the main portrait lighting, dotted around the showroom were small standing or table lights which I used by showing glimpses of them in the background, these small lights gave a nice ambient light which I enhanced by using a 2nd Quadra light directed at the walls or furniture. I felt that this lighting setup together with a large aperture and high ISO worked very well.
Office Background Portraits – A Growing Trend
We first noticed during 2015 a growing trend for companies to have their headshots & portraits taken in their own office environment. The feedback we have received from our clients is that these images have a more friendly and approachable feel compared to those taken against the traditional white background.
For 2016 we have a new updated package for headshots or portraits taken with an office background.
