Calais Migrants
A few days ago I was in Calais for the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat to do a story with their London correspondent Annamari Sipilä about the situation of the Calais Migrants. An estimated 2,300 people live in squalid camps near the French port. A quote by the port’s mayor Natacha Bouchart “Calais migrants willing to die to come to Britain” were the headlines in the British press on the morning we left for France, having met and listened to the stories of some migrants I concur.
