Mobile Phone theft in London 2024
Silja is one of thousands of people in London who have had their mobile phones snatched by criminals using bikes and mopeds. In her case, two masked youths on bikes grabbed her phone while she was out for her morning jog.
According to figures from the Metropolitan Police, 72,936 mobile phones were stolen between January and November 2024. In the first six months of the year, only 750 of these phones were recovered.
