London Walks Jack The Ripper
On this our 2nd walk we met our guide Molly outside the Tower Hill Underground Station and together with some 25 others we walked off into East London, the heart of the Ripper’s killing ground.
This was a very interesting tour. When we reached the murder crime scenes Molly showed on her iPad some original images taken by the police of the mutilated bodies, the reactions in the faces of the onlookers show how graphic they were.
Coincidentally our tour was on the same date as when the 4th victim Catherine Eddowes was murdered in Mitre Square, whilst standing in the square a couple of worried looking pensioners shuffled slowly past me, they held each other tightly “We come here every year on the 30th September” they said, “Catherine will appear as she always does on this night”. We moved on.
Further along the Jack The Ripper trail I had to smile on seeing a hairdresser’s with the sign ‘Jack The Clipper’.
